I was thinking at least a year both for the 'kids' and for the government to get a little for our money....or just mandatory reserve time of a few years with basic training and some periodic training and such like they do for reserves already.
I think some extended deployment time for a few months right after basic and then reserve time after totalling 3 years would be just about right! Good experience! And the more people worldwide who do this and learn what it's about to be away from family and friends in a mud hole with no clean water or sleep themselves the less we'd ask the next generation to do it! But then you still get the aberrations, warlords,and dictators anyway, so maybe it just wouldn't work the way I'd hope!

I respect all of the vets and current soldiers. I know of a couple soldiers in my area that have died. Knew them really well too. Right now there's one guy from the city next to me that is still MIA. Matt Maupin, maybe you guys have heard stories. He's been a POW for about 4 years now. Sat and talked with his dad the other day. Great guy. He said that he isn't shaving his beard until his son comes back. I think it's awesome.


I sure hope that Matt returns soon.

Haha bad scheduling on their part, eh? If they had started you guys all at once they could have had a full band playing in the officer's club and not just Lev hope everyone gets back safe and sound!
