Speaking of pigs. How many of you guys have tasted a whole pig done buried in a pit in a wash tub? I tasted that way back in the "60's, and I will never forget how good it was. Lewaul

I haven't tried it cooked in a washtub before, but I have had pig cooked in a pit.

Lived for a while in the Torres Strait, off the top of Cape York in Far North Queensland. The Torres Strait Islanders cook a lot of their ceremonial feasts in ground ovens, lining the pits in hot coals and banana leaves before dropping the food in and covering them. Many other South Sea Islanders, Maoris etc use similar techniques.

We had a pig roast at our wedding reception. It was great.

In other news, I am cooking a beef roast overnight tonight (crock pot) for the first time in my life. We'll see how it turns out tomorrow.

Crock pots are pretty foolproof, just make sure you set it on low and add water every few hours and by the time it's done you can cut it with a fork!

I can, I'd never start. Then again I can't stand seafood.
