I haven't tried it cooked in a washtub before, but I have had pig cooked in a pit.
Lived for a while in the Torres Strait, off the top of Cape York in Far North Queensland. The Torres Strait Islanders cook a lot of their ceremonial feasts in ground ovens, lining the pits in hot coals and banana leaves before dropping the food in and covering them. Many other South Sea Islanders, Maoris etc use similar techniques.Hail yesterday
