  • Close Call?

I went in my shed today to get my weed whacker out and as I walked out I felt something on my neck, I grabbed it thinking a piece of grass or something had gotten on me. It was a Black Widow spider. Sure glad it didn't bite, especially being on my neck.
Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

Your a very very lucky man to say the least.
In all reality, you should've been biten and shouldn't have lived to talk about it. Again, to say your a lucky man when be an under statement.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

They are not as deadly as some might think.
I've been bitten twice by a Black Widow. Hurts for a while, but it's only deadly to a human if you allergic to them and wait more than 12 hours to seek medical attention.

That being said... you were lucky. Even if you're not allerigic, it still hurts like hell.

            Reference http://www.desertusa.com/july97/du_bwindow.html

The female black widow spider, though it is the most venomous spider in North America, seldom causes death as it injects a very small amount of poison when it bites. Reports indicate human mortality at well less than 1% from black widow spider bites.

My son was bitten this summer and it took him 6 to 8 weeks just to get the infection under control. It left a nasty scar on his leg that will require plastic surgery to fix.Spider bites suck...................

                      Close Call?

                      > The necrosis caused by spider and snake bites are what takes the longest to control, and in some cases the person bitten never fully recovers. Anaphylactic shock,or an allergic reaction to the venom,or sometimes the antivenin,is most often what kills people when bitten by rattlesnakes and spiders. The Brown Recluse antivenin is only effective within 24 hours of the actual bite, after that you are totally on your own. I've even met a guy that got bit at the base of his left thumb, and the only way to save the thumb from infection was to leave the wound open and literally superglue/stitch it to his chest. Tommy D.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Those are some mean mother fuckers right there and their bite can definitely be deadly, especially on the neck.

Just about this time last year, a good friend of mine was snoozin while sitting on the couch after a hard day at work. he had just gotten out of the shower and was still naked. His wife had got a Christmas tree that day and had it setting right next to the couch. A black widow crawled out of the tree and over to the couch and bit Paul on the nutsack, He was walking pretty funny for awhile. the doc said if it had been a brown recluse he could have lost a big chunk of scrotum and possible a nut or 2
