He doesn't take the "attitude" of the Black Metal guys to serious but he finds something in the music which he enjoys. I don't mind listening to Black Metal myself, even though you probably won't find any Black Metal albums in my collection, except perhaps Venom's "Black Metal". I've got lots of Death Metal tho.
Im talking about the screwed up guys in the band and the ones that burn churches, not the people that harmlessly listen to it.

Oh ok 6_string, I took it kinda personal cause you wrote "All those Scandanavian and Finnish Black Metal dudes are a bunch of ignorant viking idiots." To me it seemed like one big generalisation, which it apparently was not. My bad then

No prob. dude. My words were kinda strong. I have no problem with Finnish or Scandanavian people in general. Sorry if that sounded wrong.

I think he meant that his friend can listen to all the heavy shit and the next moment some 80's glam stuff wich is about chicks and parties.

That being said, I don't really understand why pople generally think that scandinavians only listen to some evil cookie monster bullshit. As I said I didn't see any metalheads in Norway. Norway has been one of the leading jazz countries lateley, in modern jazz (nu/acid/fusion/trip-hop etc.) they are absolutley on top of the game. Sweden is still a huge pop country. Finland is the place where rock'n'roll is HUGE.....but evil metal is still unerground.

that's because you were outside scamming for chicks, and all the metalheads were indoors working on their tans.

I just rented this movie off netflix. it was interesting, especially his categorizations/history/family tree thing.

but I agree there was too much emphasis on black metal and all those extreme genres in which people seem much more interested in being more evil than the next guy, rather than in being good musicians making music.

that Gaahl guy was hilarious. I wonder if he knows how people laugh at his moronic false-serious schtick?

super important historic metal that was missing from the film:
                      Michael Schenker/UFO
                      Scorpions
                      Yngwie Malmsteen
                      Megadeth
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

YES!! Absolutely agree with you! Didn't Megadeth get their 15 minutes of fame in "The Decline of Western Civilization Pt. 2" though?

Megadeth was about the only band I was interested in seeing in that documentary. So the same can be said in reverse. How many people went to see it JUST because of Megadeth?

I have not seen Decline, have to rent it.

I personally thought all the satan bands and black metal bands were a crackup, made me laugh every time one of them was on screen.

Megadeath was missing? They are one of the leading thrash bands. I guess I'll still rent it anyway.
