  • Red Sox giving up on Manny

You guys can't do that. If you give up on Manny, you give up on the next five seasons. Who the hell am I gonna argue with?......I don't want a Yankee-Blue Jays rival. That would suck.

I want the Red Sox fans to hate us, abhor us, detest us. You lose the "true" Yankee killer, and that it. I know he hurts us, but who else is gonna protect Ortiz.............................no one!

There's no one in the league whos better than Manny, against the Yanks. Drew blows, doesn't come close. As far as I was concerned, Manny can loaf in the outfield, take a nap, play with himself, but if he comes up to bat against the Yanks, I know what the result is gonna be,......either a homerun that no one can find, or a a hit, whether its a double, single, triple or an error.

He kills us, and believe it or not I love it. Cause it keep those Yankee-Red Sox games what they should be.....classic.

If Manny's gone, then goodbye Sox, sorry to say, they just become medicocre, like the Cleveland Indians.

believe me, i'm not looking forward to that deal happening, which i'm sure will. the jd drew thing pisses me off royally, considering he's no upgrade over nixon; from what i've seen, they're stats are pretty close, and they're both injury prone. i know you're not a trot fan, but that guy has a hell of a lot of heart.

      Your right
I'm not a Trot fan, but dedication is dedication, and he's what to Boston is what Posada is to NY as far as I'm concerned. I know Brian doesn't like Posada, which is why I picked him.:ROTF: :ROTF: , but those guys are what makes the team. For example, for as long as I live, I will always remember Nixon. But in a good/bad way! A true Red Sox and a..............well, you know.:ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:

Read that they have been shopping him around earlier today, very bad decision. Drew is not even close to Manny!
They did make an offer to Matsuzaka though, about time, LOL Boreass will screw it up though. I read something on ESPN.com that he is seeking $100 mil over 5 to 6 years. Don't know where they got those numbers from though. That's a ton of $$

on the verge of signing Lugo as well ..

I hate Manny being Manny but lets face it..you castrate Big Papi by remomving Manny. The problem is there is little clubhouse belief that when Manny says he is injured and cannot play that he is even remotely telling the truth. This seems to becoming a normal way of getting back at the sox... this is a tough call for sure.. is tude vs his bat ...

JD Drew isn't an upgrade over Nixon? Over the last 3 seasons:

            JD Drew:
            G: 363 AB: 1264 H: 370 2B: 74 3B: 15 HR: 66 RBI: 229 AVG: .292 OBP: .414 SLG: .529 OPS: .943

            Trot Nixon:
            G: 286 AB: 938 H: 261 2B: 62 3B: 2 HR: 27 RBI: 142 AVG: .278 OBP: .369 SLG: .450 OPS: .819

Add to that that Drew's not only one of the best right fielders in the game, but he plays a good center as well in case we dangle Crisp for pitching.

Their ain't no way Drew is worth close to 70 million dollars. I love Trot, he's been here since he was a rookie and plays the game the way it's supposed to be played. From what i hear about Drew, he is out for himself above the team. That's coming from an ex coach Tony Larusa (sp?)

As far as Manny leaving....if he does it's over for Ortiz. He'll go from leading the league in homers to leading the league in walks. They are gonna pay JD 15 but won't pay Manny 18....um yeah His last year (manny) was his worst ever in 10 years and it still outdoes anything JD ever did.

JD is just a package deal for Yokozuna. Same agent. He walked away from 33 million that the dodgers offered him? ok sure....

              Oh yeah....Posada SUX !!!

                JD Drew :ROTF:

That guy should be named DL Drew, nobody gets hurt or goes on the DL that often.

The other reason they may be moving Manny is to force Matt Clement as part of the package and get out from under his contract.

Well, Trot sure did (as you can see from the stats posted above).
