Heard he is going to the Derek Jeter school of intangibles during the off season. He to will look like a gold glove player, when in fact there are about 6 other guys that actually played the position better.

How is Slappy holding up anyway? Any word on his potential demise in the Empire?
Alls been quiet with him. He mentioned something about hitting 50 homers this year (or was that me :ROTF: ).

It should be a good year, next year for the Yanks. I think we'll win the majority of the games at Yankee Stadium, when you guys come to town. And when we travel up to "The Yankees own Fenway Park Stadium", we should fair well there too. :ROTF: :ROTF:

Jeter's not the best fielding shortstop in the game, but i'll take his 200 plus hits every year, 100 plus runs scored, knowledge of the game, hustle, clutchness,
plays hurt, doesn't give a fukk about awards, steals 30 plus bases, knocked in 97, instills the players with the right way to approach the game, I'm sorry Chris, but I can't have you tearing apart the captain of the yankees. He's been gold from the first game he's played for us. Intangibles? It's actually all completely tangible. Manny is the 3rd best hitter I've ever seen play. 1- is Rod Carew, 2- Tony Gwynn, 3- Manny Ramirez. Manny hits the ball all over the place, in the gaps, alleys, off the wall, way over the wall, it's a shame he doesn't take it (the rest of the game) as seriously as jeter. he'd be possibly the best of all time. On the top 5 list at least. Fukkin' slacker, I hope we sign him though-lol

I'll give you the fact that Jeter was your teams MVP last year. Tough choice between him and Wang. Can't believe I just typed that. But dude, Gold Glove winner of the entire American league? No way.

who smoked him that badly to where he shouldn't have won or at least been in the top finalists? I know there are guys with more range, better leather, but the dude invented the whole jump off balance and wing it to first move. On that alone I give him the glove. It's a good thing I am not judging-lol
Texas has a great SS, Arod was a better shortstop, it's a fact, before he became a yankee, but he basically puts in the same year every year except 344 or whatever was his alltime high.

People forget that Ortiz had his breakout year and half of the world series year without Manny backing him up. Ortiz did very well.

Of course having Manny helps but look how Ortiz did in September without Manny playing at all.

Manny frees up a lot of money. It's not going to go to Drew only. The Sox will have lots of bargaining chips, and they could trade for Adrian Beltre with those chips, or heck even Andruw Jones if they throw in Bucholz or another top chip, or even Coco Crisp.

Lugo is the key. With him at the top of your lineup with Coco Crisp, there will be players getting on base ahead of Ortiz.

I'd rather not throw in Bucholz unless it's towards somebody younger than Jones.

Tommy, you I know I love you bro. But dude just read what you posted. The gold glove is all about the fielding, range, errors etc... etc..
And don't shrug my disapproval of this years SS gold glove choice off, as it being a Sox fan hating the Yankees thing either. I will definitely give credit where credit is due. No denying you guys have the best all time closer that probably has ever played the game. And it certainly isn't because I hate Jeter. He just isn't the short stop he used to be bro. As a matter of fact I will go as far as saying that I think he holds back range wise to try and avoid an error on his yearly record. The spin and throw thing I guess I'll give him. Even though Nomar was known for the same. But you forgot one important part of that play. You can't forget the fist pump after the guy is called out at first.

Arod is a better shortstop than Jeter is. And Mr. Solo, read my post ,exactly, i admit there are better range and glove guys now, but not to the point where it's a complete travesty that he won was my point. i put the "lol" in there to show thati am biased and it's good that I'm not part of the judging. Arod , will end up at SS eventually for the yankees, Jeter may go down with an injury, he's getting old ya know, and if purple dick lips or whatever you call him moves to short, you'll see where he really belongs. He's the best shortstop in baseball to this day, just not the best 3rd baseman, which is what sucks the big one. who's got your vote for pure fielding at short this year? just curious.

Gonzo of course. With that "purple dick lips" comment your almost on your way to becoming a full blown Sox fan. I will admit Jeter is a great team player. Not necessarily for his play on the field. He's a great mentor for a lot of the younger guys. Unfortunately for Jeter the older guys all have way to large egos and lack the ability to work as a team. But I would say it looks like the Yankees are trying to get back to basics and not jump at the best vet players on a whim anymore. Which could get scary.

Looks likely that Trot is going to be with the Sox next season also. Maybe Trot and JD can work out a injury schedule that works out best for them and the team.
