    .002 cents per kilobyte.

    .002 * 100 kilobytes = 2 cents.

I probably fucked this up somehow.

It actually equals .20 or twenty cents, but, you are on the right track.-Lou

You have it correct, but DAYUM!!!!! You have way too much free time on your hands.

Quakana, by Michaels example, do you believe me now? I would never steer you astray.

Here is a guide that Lou and all Verizon employees may want to have taped to their walls before they attempt to perform basic algebra pertaining to money:

            1 DOLLAR = 100 CENTS = $1.00 = 1/1 DOLLARS = 100/1 CENTS
            0.1 DOLLARS = 10 CENTS = $0.10 = 1/10 DOLLARS = 10/1 CENTS
            0.01 DOLLARS = 1 CENT = $0.01 = 1/100 DOLLARS = 1/1 CENTS
            0.001 DOLLARS = 0.1 CENTS = $0.001 = 1/1000 DOLLARS = 1/10 CENTS
            0.0001 DOLLARS = 0.01 CENTS = $0.0001 = 1/10000 DOLLARS = 1/100 CENTS

WITH THIS GUIDE YOU TOO CAN SUCCEED AT LIFE!

Full cents sit to the left of the decimal and partial cents sit on the right.

              .002 * 35893 = 71.786 cents

Even think of it this way.

                1 and .002 CENTS is

                1.002 cents.

                  Nope.

.002 of $1.00 is the exact same as .002 cents. To come up with the 71.786 cents that you guys are inferring to , the question that would have had to been asked was " Is the rate of the KB usage two-thousandths of a penny? " That question was never asked. Because 35,893 KB at two-thousandths of a penny is 71.786 cents. He asked if it was .002 dollars or .002 cents....which, coincidentally and mathematically, are the exact same amount.

By your logic and the direction you are moving the decimal point, when we go to the gas station, instead of paying 2.249 per gallon, we should all be paying .02249 per gallon. Hey, I am ll for it, but, its wrong.

                  I don't know of any other way to put this. $1.00 X .002= .002 cents. .002 cents also = .002 cents.

Again, one and a half cents looks like this: .015.
half a cent looks like this: .5

How did that happen? The penny becomes the whole number, therefor being translated to 1.5 ( one and a half ) pennies. The decimal must be moved to the RIGHT two places to make the penny the whole number. That doesn't make the penny a dollar.....it just makes it one whole penny.

Therefor, .002 translates to .2 ( two-tenths of a penny...it can be rounded to one-fifth, but, I am trying to keep it simple as possible.

Imagine taking a penny and cutting it into 10 equal pieces. Everytime you use 1 KB of data, we take 2 of those pieces. After 5 KB, we have taken all 10 pieces and now have a whole penny.

I am a number cruncher. I do it all day.-Lou

Michael, this example is one and two-thousandths of a penny or .01002 cents. The 2 is inthe hundred thousandths place of you were referring to a whole DOLLAR. 0.01002. However, we want to focus on the PENNY. Nothing else matters at this point. So, to make the penny the whole number, we would have to convert it to 1.002. It is now 1 and 2/1000ths of a penny. Meaning, we have 1 whole penny and have cut another penny into 1000 equal parts and kept 2 of those parts.

I think people are getting lost in the placement of the decimal. It is not because they are dumb, they are not breaking down the math properly. How often do you really get into tenths of a penny? At the gas pump....but, we always round up to the nearest cent.

No, it does not make sense, everything is in the sense of cents, there is no conversion to dollars.

try this.... go to google.com and paste this into your search.

I'm going to post this again so that it can be on the second page. Because apparently people are still not reading it.

                            1 DOLLAR = 100 CENTS = $1.00 = 1/1 DOLLARS = 100/1 CENTS
                            0.1 DOLLARS = 10 CENTS = $0.10 = 1/10 DOLLARS = 10/1 CENTS
                            0.01 DOLLARS = 1 CENT = $0.01 = 1/100 DOLLARS = 1/1 CENTS
                            0.001 DOLLARS = 0.1 CENTS = $0.001 = 1/1000 DOLLARS = 1/10 CENTS
                            0.0001 DOLLARS = 0.01 CENTS = $0.0001 = 1/10000 DOLLARS = 1/100 CENTS
                            Thank you, come again.

$1 dollar is not the same as 1 cent

so .002 dollar is not the same as .002 cent

                                I found this.

I'll give you .002 cents for every .002 dollar you give me.

                                And

                                .002 CENTS X 35000 = 70 CENTS

                                .002 DOLLARS X 35000 = 70 DOLLARS
