    I think I have put a finger why everyone is confused on this.

    Everyone is saying that $.002 and .002 *OF* a penny is the same. I disagree 110%. They are different.

    Their logic is that .5 dollars and .5 *OF* a dollar are the same. It is $.50 ( fifty cents ). Everyone is correct in this. WHAT?!?! I have flipped my lid haven't I? Nope. Lets look at whole numbers on the LEFT side of the decimal point. I will use letters A-D for placment:

    DCBA.0000

    A= 1's spot
    B= 10's spot
    C= 100's spot
    D= 1000's spot

    Now, lets look at the numbers to the RIGHT of the decimal point, again using letters A-D for placement:

    .ABCD

    A= 10's spot
    B= 100's spot
    C= 1000's spot
    D= 10,000's spot

    Did you notice something? There is no 1's spot to the RIGHT of the decimal point.

    This is what causes the mathmatical anomally that says .002 cents and .002 *of* a cent is not the same ,but, .5 dollars and .5 *OF* a dollar are the same.-Lou

          No. Actually nobody is saying this.
          I think that you are either not reading what anyone has to say, or you are just trolling.

            I think the problem is that Lou is saying that 2 cents and .02 cents means the same thing. Not in my book they dont. In my book 2 cents is .02 dollars or $.02. I have, however, seen people post the term "my 2 cents" as " my .02 cents" on message boards. I dont think that's right though.

                Since when does a fraction of a cent and a fraction of a dollar equal the same thing? The state of schools in the US are in a worse downturn than I thought.

                  Dude, its basic math. I know this is a stretch for many, but, one last time:

                  The rate is advertised as $.002 per KB.

                  Mulitply $1.00 by .002.

                  What do you get? You get $.002. Now tell me your calculator is a liar.

                  If it was advertised as $.02 per KB, and you multipled $1.00 by .02, you get $.02.

                  Any number times "1" is always the same number and never changes. BASIC FREAKING MATH.

                  Here is another little secret....ANY NUMBER TIMES "0" IS ALWAYS "0".....WOW!!!!-Lou

                      If you take $.002 and multiply with 5 you get $.01 which is 1 penny.

                      What you say next is that $.002 cents times 5 equals 1 cent.

                      That makes absolutely no sense. You are mixing fractions of the same dimension (money) together and ends up with some fraction of money^2.

                      You have $.002 cents = (1 cent = $10^-2) = $.002 * $10^-2 = ($^2) (.00002) or (100^2 cents^2) (0.00002) = 0.2 cents^2 which is not the same as 0.2 cents.

                      So, $.002 cents x 5 equals 1 cent^2 and not 1 cent.

                      Why do you hate the decimal system?

                            that is .002 dollars per KB ...

                            their 'verbal' quote of .002 cents per KB is not the same thing...
