    Congrats, a great choice!
When I read your first post, I immediately thought "770 PRO"!

I own them and a pair of AKG K501 (which were the first HiFi headphones I got). The Beyerdynamics were a great addition, especially awesome for listening to metal and studio work, but not so great for classical stuff and for use with my digital piano (because of the extra bass).

They are not as transparent as the K501's, but MORE FUN to listen to!

I like my modded $10 dollarama shell (comfy, and has a volume pot on each ear) with really good speakers that come from a broken pair of sony's

Brand new they are pricy, but I bought mine off Ebay for 140$ and am happy (I upgraded from Senn HD590's)
Another AKG 271 user here, they make my ears sweat though

It was me! I have been wanting to buy a good pair of headphones but always felt the zillion threads out there weren't giving me all the info I needed. This thread seemed to be the best of 'em and I decided to ask the question.

Nothing wrong with reviving this...I would not have thought to search "headphones" in this forum. Good call, Emp. I've learned a bit.

                            DAMN!

I just reread the thread and found TWO responses of mine and the first looked so unfamiliar... I totally didn't notice that this thread was this old and it was really fucking with my head for a minute!

Interesting that I posted pretty much exactly the same now as one year ago, so my opinion has not changed at all.

Well, the search is over. I got myself these cans...

                              Sony MDR-V6

Exact in specs to "the studio standard" MDR-7506 except for a better freq response and a few cosmetic differences

Artifacts of the black rain has never sounded better through headphones. Those subtle bass drum beats which I could hear only through my 800Watt home stereo system, I can finally hear through heaphones. LOL

Thanks to Vince for pointing me to that head-fi.org forum. If you are considering a Sony MDR-7506, get these instead. cheaper and better. That's the forum's consensus anyways.
