I played that dumbass game the other day at Best Buy. I was disappointed because it has nothing to do with playing guitar.

Its a huge seller and attracts people to the guitar and guitar heroness, so I'm all for it! What you gotta consider though, is that LCD's and maybe plasma's have timing issues with the game. I played it at a mates house and it SUCKED having to hit the notes earlier.

And if this video game makes you go and pick up a real guitar instead, I'd say thats a victory aswell right there.

Disclaimer: I'm bitter because, although I've never actually played Guitar Hero, I'm quite sure that any 9 year old kid would kick my ass.

My opinion after watching people play it at a party...that game sucks the big one and has almost nothing to do with actually playing guitar. One upside is that it does introduce younger kids to cool music they might not hear otherwise (Crue, Sabbath, etc).

I have a beginner guitar playing friend who is addicted to Guitar Hero. If he spent 1/2 the time practicing his real guitar that he spends playing that game, he'd kick ass by now.
