But that's what I'm saying - remove the names from the view of newbies, so all they see are listings but no idea who's selling :ROTF:

If they post a message anywhere to ask about the listing, they get "Sorry, those ads are only open to Full members" :ROTF:

This is a community and the classifieds is for the regulars to exchange personal gear. We used to see WAAAAY too many people with thier first post being in the classifieds trying to sell something. And ya, you are a lot safer dealing with a regular.

Well not only that but think of this. If we allowed the classifieds to be viewed by anyone then we have people trolling this board just for that. The regulars will miss out on first dibs and this being a free board it is only fair contributing members have that shot.

What would stop dealers coming in and trolling the classifieds to find a rare piece of gear they have a client looking for and then charge them a premium of your sale. There's so many ways to look at it..

Bottom line is I would listen to the criticism of something from a contributing member before I would listen to someone who just signed up and didn't like it.

His membership was pulled for this reason. He read the rules, agreed to T.O.S and then decided he didn't agree with the T.O.S. so his account was terminated.

Stil there is nothing wrong with someone new coming on and questioning the rules, he didnt really deserve the torrent of abuse that followed. Otherwise no one will ever want to post ideas for rule changes that would make the forum better.

At this point, as often as this happens I wonder if it's just the new pastime for goofballs from other forums to come over here, bitch about the classifieds, get banned and then run back to HC or ESPee to tell all the other 14-year-olds how badass they are.

I originally joined this forum to get more info on a guitar that I've owned since 1989. I found a wealth of knowledge here, and contributed what I could with regard to MIJ Jacksons. When I joined, I figured that I would have nothing to do with buying/selling gear here because of my geographic location.

However, I ended up helping a couple of guys score guitars that were for sale in shops near where I live. I realized that international shipping wasn't that big a hassle, and asked Tekky (who was an admin at the time) to let me access the classifieds at that point.

I see Classifieds access as being the "icing on the cake".
