Its just the with drawal symptoms. Dont quit dude. Be a jackass or whatever it takes. Id rather be a live jackass and see my kid graduate and see him become a daddy than be a dead kind person and miss out on all that and orphan him. Just fight thru it. 2 cans of Copenhagen a day was a bad habit but im free now. It was worth it. Smokeless tabacco has just as much if not more nicotine than a cig. Its a plant and you can overcome it. We should form a quit tabacco support group here.

i was gonna give an essay or so, but all i can suggest is see it this way: quit or die horribly. i'm a complete hypocrite because i started at 13. i'm 31 now, punctured my lung in 2001 (stress + smoking are not a good combination) and still suffer from occasional chest pains and panic attacks. if i can quit for 7 months as a result of that incident, i can quit forever. i saw the x-ray of my lungs just 3 months after being discharged, and believe me, there was a big difference.

Yes sir, a ton of healing occurs in the first 90 days. I'm pretty sure that come March 26th, I'll be feeling a bit different than I do now.

Tips? Well, it's going on three days now without a smoke (baby steps, ya know?). The first day was the hardest, but I found that if I stayed busy it wasn't so bad. Then on the second day I noticed something cool....I felt better than I've felt in years! I had more energy, didn't feel tired halfway through the day, and just had a general feeling of well being I haven't felt in a long long time. The hardest time for me is first thing in the morning, when my usual routine is three cups of coffee and 3 or 4 cigarettes in the first hour. I knew better than to make the coffee, so I didn't, and it wasn't that bad not having the smokes.
So, I guess my tip (so far) would be to quit for a couple of days, and see how much better you feel...then decide if you want to light up again. In my case, that difference is giving me more drive to never smoke cigs again. I did smoke a little reef last night before bed, and that helped me sleep a little better. It also helps having the support of my friends here, thank you all for that. BTW, this is probably one of the toughest things I've ever done in my life.

Good luck, Mark, I know what it's like.

Keep thinking of your daughters, and you'll be fine!

I'm 36 and all I have to do is think of my 3 year old daughter when I get the urge to light up. I will be there for her graduation and then her wedding... in that order.
Been 3 years since I lit up... I feel a million times better.
Put a pic of your family in your wallet. When you get the urge, take a good look at it.
                  Worked for me.

Mark cold turkey is the way to go...thats what worked for me. I quit for the same reasons as you...my children. I wanted to be around to see thm grow to become men, thats all the motivation I needed. I quit when my frst son was born in 94...started back up for a while when my wife abut 8 months preggo with my second son in 95. After he was born I quit for good...so its been a while.

I guess to be totally honest it wasnt cold turkey as I had a couple weed plants in my backyard in Houston that were budding...snip snip..microwave dry and a couple pufffs eased the nerves...that was something I quit as well because I didnt want my home conficated because I had a bush or two in my backyard

For me there was no "quitting" or "trying to quit." It had to be smoke or don't smoke. Once I was fully committed to the decision to not smoke I found it easy. Oh yeah, and Zyban just made me hyperactive and horny as hell. The (then-)wife begged me to stop taking it. LOL

Congrats on your concern for yourself and those around you.
