  • Loosing someone..

Not really sure how to start this, but I followed my aunt, aged 54 to her grave today..I, along with 5 others of her close family carried the casket to her final resting place, and it was physically exhausting..My head has been feeling empty all the rest of the day.. I'm not looking for pity or anything, everybody feels this way when they go to funerals, right?

    Happy holidays, fellow jcf'ers!!

Morten, I'm very sorry for your loss. Yes, your feelings are normal, it's hard to vocalize but when you've felt it you understand. I've lost both parents and my brother, and my best friend of 30+ years back in September.

Time will dull the pain but it will hurt when you think of her. But you will have joyful memories of her too, it will not all be painful.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and especially your aunt. Everyone will express greif differently, support each other, that's most important.

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my dad 17 yrs ago altho it wasnt this close to christmas it was 2 days before mymoms birthday. It really did put an entirely differant mood on the holidays tho. But we had friends and family to help is through the roughest parts. I know you miss her and you always will. Just remember she lives on within you. When ever you think of her. You revive those memories and for a brief moment shes alive again in your mind. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Yeah bro... We do... Allow the feelings to come, and work them out, dont supress them. Just accept, work them out and get them handled.

Sorry you get to feel this. We all do, and it is always a terrible thing.

            Blessed be...

Sorry to hear about you losing a loved one. Grieving is tough. But, it's necessary because you loved her. God Bless. It sucks to be apart from those we care about.

It took me over 2 weeks to get over my buddies death.
                It takes time.

sorry to hear about that man....youll get through it. i lost 2 uncles and an aunt in the last 4 months. it sucks and everyone feels that way afterwards. it must be especially bad beeing a pallbearer (spelling?) but were all here for you.

slightly O.T....i remember hearing somewhere that if you always supress your feelings of depression and anger it increases your chances of health problems or something like that?

I've flown home to new York for 14, maybe 15 funerals now Morton, all i can say to you is stick close with the family because the whole situation sucks moose rod,and there's not one upside to it with the exception that your aunt
may finally be out of physical pain or suffering. I hope you bounce back soon.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

54 is much too young. My condolences. And, yeah, I've had to carry way too many aunt's & uncle's caskets over the past couple of years. Each time it seems even harder.

I guess I had too much wine last night, and was feeling sad, and I'm sorry that you had to hear my sobbing, but hey - thank you very much!

                          Morten -
                          Sorry for your loss...
Yep- those feelings are normal. I lost both a very good friend/mentor and my aunt (both before the age of 50) last year between Thanksgiving and X-mas.
I still miss them both, but it hurts a little less this year than it did last year. Just never forget your aunt...
