Don't need to see it. I'll take their word for it. In my 56 years I have seen film of people hanged; shot in the head or whatever. If he's dead, he's dead. That's all I need.

No news agency in North America will show it. It maight "disturb" some viewers. It'll be on the Al Jazeera's website probably, but not their English news channel. Give it a few hours and it'll be up on youtube until youtube takes it down.

Well, it looks like it will be done in a few minutes. Now, I know for sure that I will be awake at 1AM PST to listen to the BBC for the reaction.

He will hang because there is no out for anyone. Whether it is right or wrong to do so is not the point. He was tried and convicted and sentenced to death by hanging. There was an appeal and the death penalty was upheld. Just get it overwith. And then there will be the same Iraq with one less diversion. He just may pull a Goering and spoil the party.

I made no judgment in either of my posts on whether I thought he should be put to death or not. I also only used him as an example in my last post. I was merely commenting on people's views of justice in general what with all the comments of "tell that to the victim's family!" and whatnot. There is a very good reason why they aren't the jury.

Please don't flame me just for posting what I think is an interesting and thought-provoking read!
The latest breaking UK, US, world, business and sport news from The Times and The Sunday Times. Go beyond today's headlines with in-depth analysis and comment.

FWIW, I concur with the general concensus of opinion on this thread - the fucker should swing, and good riddance...

Perhaps you are the one failing to separate the difference between a normal defendant in our criminal justice system and a known tyrant, monster and MASS murderer. Saddam killed HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS, if not MILLIONS, of people. He has been convicted of only 148 people who he held responsible for an assassination attempt on him. Note he didn't just have the assassin killed. He went down the line of anyone in the area who he THOUGHT MIGHT have been involved.

So Saddam has HAD his justice, his trial that has taken months, and several attorneys on bith sides have been murdered as well, to give him his day in court. He is a Hitler, a Stalin, a Pol Pot, and richly deserves death as an act of JUSTICE in reparation for all those he killed, and for the grief of trhe survivors of the dead.

Death to Saddam IS justice, for the people of Iraq, Kuwait, and Iran.

i understand it being a question of what is right to do as a society, but not when someone takes something that precious away from your family. what we will tolerate as a society vs. an individual are considerably different.
They seem linked to me. I mean. if every individual acted the same way, society would be forced to tolerate it, right?
