  • Rosewood experiment

I want to try out different methods of "ebonizing" a rosewood fingerboard and post my results. For posterity, as it were.

So if someone would be willing to donate a rosewood boarded neck, I would cover shipping cost. Broken necks (ouch) or detached fretboards are fine, prefer with at least some frets and markers remaining. Brand, scale or any of the usual neck specs don't matter.

    Thanks,
    Mike2

Just use "new wood" brand chemicals. They work great, and can change anything into anything.

That's the first time I've seen those. I take it you have experience using them? I have a Jackson with a light rosewood board that I want to ebonize, and have been hesitant to use India ink, out of concern that it might not come off the white dot inlays.

If some one has used these, or is planning to...I'd sure like to see the results of the "ebony to maple" stuff. Not that I am planning on doing it...just wonder how it looks.

This is the stuff you want to use for fretboards. I use it on all of mine that like colored rosewood. Works and looks great.
