  • Proof that stupid hardcore "dancing" can kill.

This was in today's paper, and happened a few miles from where I live. In addition to looking completely ridiculous, the kung-fu crap that passes for moshing these days can kill.

I'm not generally a fan of lawsuits, but I hope that the dead kid's mom wins the $50,000. Sure, her son was as "guilty" as anyone else, but this kind of thing needs more attention.

I guess at 36 I'm old, because I haven't understood it since I first watched it go on at concerts.
I pisses me off because at general admission shows, I try to get up close because my wife's eyesight sucks, so I usually stand in front of her at the edge of a pit and whack these retards that come my way so my wife doesn't get hit while trying to see the show.

I don't mind mosh pits, but I hate the retards that swing their arms around and punch and shit like that. Bunch of jackasses.

I have aged well beyond doing the pit. As I got older my temper grew and my tolerence lowered. It sucks having to tolerate that BS just to get a good view of the band you paid to see.

yeah, I was quite confused when I saw this crap at ozzfest 2004 or was it 05 (one of them). I thought, "oh, a pit... wait, what the fuck are they doing"? My buddy was in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up getting hit pretty hard by one of these jackasses, then he started cracking heads. Securtiy pulled him out which kind of sucked because he wasn't even part of it to begin with, he just wanted to see the show. Meanwhile these assholes were allowed to continue "dancing".

I think it's pretty stupid too, but on the other hand, it looks kinda hilarious. Plus, if they are killing each other, even better!! I remember all the photoshops going around of the ugly, fat, hardcore dancing chick.

I stopped going up front after the last time I saw Megadeth at Maple Leaf Gardens. I spent more time trying to not get kicked in the head, than I did watching the band. That was it for me. I am now much more comfortable sitting in a seat watching the band.
                Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

Must be going on somewhere else. I don't see this kung fu shit at the metal shows I attend in Denver.

I blame Metallica for bringing this to the scene. They attracted the jocks to the scene and the meat head mentality of punching and pushing people from behind has become common now.

In the 90's it was the skinheads, but now it's the dudes with gelled hair, tribal tatoos, and Dillard's leather jackets you have to watch out for.

Is this an American phenomenon? I have never been punched at a concert, nor have I ever attempted to hit someone.

I never understood the sense in moshing anyway. Ya wanna run around like idiots and "release your agression" go the the YMCA and find a punching bag, but let those who have evolved above Cro-Magnon Man enjoy the band.

I once went to a GWAR show with 4 compressed/twisted knuckles and 3 broken metacarpals, and a spleen/cast.

I still about had to knock the shit out of this chicks's boyfriend. When I would confront him about ramming into my hand, he would blow me off like I was out of line. I was at the very back of this club. ( the culture room, in FL)

I ended up watching a few minutes of the show dangling from the front of house sound (Jeremey Smith was cool like that back then).. then I just walked out and sat outside and drank beer with 2 bums. One claimed he wasn't homeless.

                            But fuck those kinda shows.
