Based on my experience I'd say its about a 60% good cops vs. 40% with an attitude problems. Its totally understandable given the stress levels the job entails. I wouldnt risk my life for 40k a year but I certainly admire and appreciate those who do. It has to be tough walking up to traffic stop and not knowing what your dealing with. Yyou can't let your guard down until the situation is assesed. I think that is why officers are often misunderstood as being pricks sometimes. Even when I was young and dumb as long as I showed respect for the officer his attitude would change from prick to being somewhat nice and cordial. I agree with you that its not just cops... its every profession. I work with assholes with attitude problems every day and their not cops
