I <3 the sumo.
Sometimes you can go in the early morning to the sumo clubs and watch them practice--that is also mega-cool. You can do the same thing at the Kokodan with Judo.Comment

@Endbat, Yes I did actually. I was waiting in line for chyanko and looking behind me for some reason. When I turned around BAM there he was, Baruto right next to me, LOL He was looking a little haggard, I wonder if he is dealing well with the sumo lifestyle. Good thing for him is he shot up through the ranks and he did not have to be one of the peons for years like some guys do, LOL
@Argos, Yes you can, speaking Japanese helps some are more open than others, some are touchy concerning foreign visitors. They are concerned about your behavior mostly.
@Bill, Bring it on Big Boy! I can take ya! Your wife might not like you in a mawashi though

Hahahaha, here is mine, a typical practice mawashi. Imagine taking sail cloth or a duffle bag und using it for a belt, nor real comfortable LOL

Whenver I'm lucky, I'll catch Sumo on TV..I love watching that sport!!
My lil' Bro took 2nd in the state Wrestling a couple years ago at 240..nothin' to do with with Sumo tho..but I was proud of him...it's his 17th birthday today..and Elvis too!!
My boy Vinny wanted to follow that but busted his foream in half last year at practice last season..
