A week or so ago I posted about ordering my wife and I a Dyson DC-14 vacuum. Further, I was asked to post a review (I think) about my impressions of the vac. Well, simply put this thing is absolutely amazing. Initially my wife was a bit miffed that I had spent sooo much money ordering a simple vacuum when I $100 Hoover would have been sufficient. Well, after 5 mins of vacuuming she was retracting her earlier comments. 
Now, my wife and I are CLEAN people and vacuum several times each week. Our old Hoover was on it's way out but was still leaving the carpet "looking" clean. Well, I went over ONE room in our house with the Dyson and it totally filled the container with pet hair and other nasties. I couldn't believe it. I believe we ended up emptying the container roughly 5x's on the initial vacuuming of our house.
So, bottom line--buy a Dyson
