A guy I know has been driving me nuts to help him buy an amp. He loves one of my Marshall combos, but I'm not really interested in selling off my gear.
I have given him options and have sent him a number of ebay auctions. All of which he declined to bid on. He ended up with a Peavey JSX, but decided he didn't like that either. I really think it was more of the $1500 price tag he didn't like more than the amp...
Anyway, the other day I showed him an amp on ebay that I have been watching, a Marshall VS265. Well, I figured if he wanted it I'd back off and let him have it.
Since ebay has removed the high bidder and bid history info I had no way of knowing if he was even still considering it, plus I really expected this amp to sell for more than he would pay for it.
As I was watching the auction for the last hour or so it stopped at $308, then suddenly at the last few minutes dropped back to $291. Someone retracted or the seller did it. At that price I couldn't chance letting it go and then find out dude didn't even try to bid on it. I would have been pissed!!!
Anyway, after the auction, I won it, the dude I know forwarded me an email where the seller canceled his bid. I assume it was because he didn't have enough feedback.
I feel kind of bad about it, but I did offer to sell him one of my amps. I wasn't going to say anything, but he saw I won it and asked me about it. So I wish if ebay is going to hide that shit, they'd keep it hid instead of showing it after the auctions end.
Even though his bid was canceled and couldn't have won anyway, I still feel kid of bad about it.
