  • Carport Collapse

It hasn't happened yet. I know I may be a whiner here, but the only reason I have such a nice carport is the last one fell down years ago because of the weight of the snow and the previous owner had it replaced. There must be 5 inches of snow and ice up there now and it's going to snow again. We just aren't prepared for what's been happening in the last week and a half. Wish me luck. Please stay up there.

Get a step ladder and just knock off what you can reach from there.
Every bit you can get off is less weight the roof will have to carry.

Stand under it and heat it up with a plumbers torch.....
          It's metal right??

Any other bright ideas.:ROTF: I'd need a flamethower.

That van roof looks pretty strong... get on the roof of it and start scraping.
              :ROTF:
And yea, I'd be worried. That's a pretty cheesy looking cover ya got there.
Sheet metal screws and aluminium are no match for snow and ice.

Get a space heater and put it on the roof of your van and point it up.
Warm the roof from the under side and melt that shit off.
              :ROTF:

That's all the advice I have left.

Notice how it slopes so the snow and ice doesn't just sit there.

so you're saying they don't make ladders tall enough? quit making excuses and get it done. rent one of those jet heaters from home depot or whatever you have up there, melt that stuff, then sweep if off. it can be done you just don't want to do it,

Zackly. Why the fuck would I do that? It's cold outside. I'll wait until Spring to do it.

Take a hose to it. That will push it off
I was in Lake Tahoe one winter, walked out to my plane and had frost on the wings. Stupid me thought if Id pour water on it the frost would disolve. 3 hours later the ice that formed from the water on the wings finaly started to thaw. lesson learned.

That will work. I'll throw 500 pounds of rock salt on a carport that has no slope. Not only that, Mr. Redmond WA., you are in the same boat.:ROTF:
