Looks Like We'll Be Selling Peavey

I just hung up with the Peavey rep and I'm seriously considering signing on as a dealer.

So what's the consensus right now on the Peavey brand and their current products? I've always considered it to be a popular meat and potatoes type of line, but I'm curious what you guys think.

I still like that new CT Special they are doing Matt. It's a bad ass guitar.

They seem to have a place at the table with their amps -6505, xxx, jsx.

All of their cables, accessories, etc are nice 'can't go wrong' items.

I still can't see any major oohing and ahhing over the gutar line.
Don't know much about their drum and fx lines

their PAs are everywhere good stuff.

There amps are good. There are guitars are so-so.

I think you'll do well with their amp line, they seem to be very popular. The guitar stuff seems to have faded away in the last year. They looked like they were going to go in strong with their Wolfgang replacement the HP Special, but this year at NAMM they had 5 on display, when last year their whole front NAMM display was a wall of guitars. I have also heard that the HP special prices are very high now, so that may be a big factor.

I'm not really interested in their guitars, but their amp line is pretty good. The JSX seems to get very good reviews across the web and I happen to like the XXL that I have for what it is.

I don't see how you can go wrong selling Peavey amps. They certainly have their market. They're also built, and warrantied well which is an added sales pitch for the seller.

Why not?All the Peavey gear I have ever owned is bulletproof.Customer service is decent,I don't think you can go wrong...............

Peavey Keyboard amps as well as PA gear has pretty much been the working musician's standard. They're reliable, even if they lack the cosmetics of other brands.

Tone snobs can argue over which brand/model does it better, but Joe Public just wants to hear sound, they don't care about the nuances. If you're playing for money, and playing in front of non-musicians, Peavey is good enough, and relatively inexpensive.

As for guitars, they only made 2 I'd ever own - the T60 and the Hydra. Everything else I've played (including the Nitro and Vandy) I didn't like.

Haven't spent any time with the "big" amps like the 5150. Last Peavey amp I had was a Bandit Transtube 112 years ago and I liked it, till it died on a gig. Replaced it with a Fender RocPro1000 head and Carvin 2x12 cabinet (needed a 2x12 anyway at the time). That's not to say I wouldn't have another Peavey amp, if the need for one ever arose.

They are really a working musician's brand... reliable equipment for affordable prices. In my experience they are also very good with warranty stuff.
So IMO they would be a good addition.

With Peavey I think you get a little more than you pay for as far as tube amps and even guitars are decently priced for what you get. The sig EX set neck is pretty good for the price...about 300 bucks...Play pretty nice too.
