Are there any must hit guitar shops there or in the immediate vicinity?

I haven't been there myself, but being a college town with (supposedly) a good live music scene, I would bet that there are several shops worth checking out.

nah...none on the top of my head. no one here in wisconsin stocks high end shit....take a look in the phone book when you arrive and call a few...you may have better luck at a local one but i kind of doubt it.

somehow hearing Madison always makes me think of that band, because that's the only thing notable I know about that town, and it's kinda unusual.
