It's the game developers' fault when DirectX-whatever isn't downward compatible? Yeah right...
Nope.
However, it is the game developer who is at fault when they write code that asks the system what version of DirectX is installed and the system says "version 11 is installed". Obviously confused, the game says "but I need at least version 10" and dies. Dee dee dee.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
It is, however most games that would fail will do so because they look for a specific version... not a minimum version. That is crappy programming.
It's not like it would be too hard getting it to work with version whatever upwards. It's not like it isn't included in the documentation, IIRC. But yeah, that would be downright crappy programming. I'd be interested in a list on what works and what not
Which version of Sonar? Contact the vendor of your video and audio devices to see if their current drivers support Vista or they are in the Vista box or they have plans to support it soon.
I'm running Sonar PE 4.0.3 with M-Audio 1814 FireWire...I'll check it out when I get home but think the video is an onboard nvida flavor of some sorts
thanks Tim. I'm in no hurry and usually wait until after SP1 is released but if there are performance gains or added features I cant live w/o I'll go for it.
Currently, M-Audio does not offer any drivers (beta or otherwise) that support Windows Vista. As Vista drivers become available they will be posted to our drivers page. If a driver is offered during the beta (pre-release) phase of its development, you will need to click the “show beta drivers” option on the drivers page in order to view and download that particular driver.
Please note that the current “Windows 64-bit” beta drivers offered on this website do not support Windows Vista.
I was reading an article, yesterday, on Vista's gaming performance. From the results, there was a small dip in performance in Vista, but it could have easily been the BETA Vista drivers for the graphics card.
