Well we try tried to be hands off

I got pms at different times

I've been accused of being homophobic and propagating homophobia..

I've been accused of allowing a hostile environment

I've been accused to allowing racist remarks

I've been accused of being too abusive with power

I've been accused of kissing FMIC's ass

I've been accused of censorship

I've beena accused of picking on newbies for not reading rules

I've been torn down for trying to do the right thing

I understand not everyone feels that way. I understand that I have at least 1/2 of the membership against any decision I make and 1/2 for it. I also can guess the results of any implemented policy before it happens..
it's not hard you just assume 1.2 the people are going to be pissed at you ..


No matter what it is it will always receive a positive or negative response unless it is simply we are shutting the board down because we have had enough .. (LOL just sayin)

This isn't an under appreciated admin complaining so please don't line up trying to make me feel better. I'm just giving my point of view. It gets to the point in anything that people are deeply passionate about it will inevitably lead to a chaotic thread. Sides will divide and names will be called. People will get called out and it gets nasty ... and the pms come in complaining .... so in so needs to be banned ..

The admins got to a point when we need to implement policy that we now have decided not to give reasons and just do it. For instance if someone gets banned or a thread gets pulled. It isn't because we don't respect the people doing it, it is because no matter how we explain it we will be told why we are wrong and usually get abused in private for the decision. We got to the point if we were going to get abused no matter what then we might as well just not give reasons anymore...

I saw a post recently talking about the lack of Admin interaction on the board. I can speak for at least 2 of us this is definitely the case because we got sick of getting trashed and just realized our personal lives were more important than what we were thought of in cyberspace and we pulled back. Recently over the last week I've been a little more involved but not like I once was .. I miss that passion I had for it but I like not having to defend myself more ..so who knows maybe I'll quiet down again ... If I'm like this I'm sure others feel the same way ..

Porn stuff, off color jokes yeah they can be funny, we all love a good laugh or something cool to look at. People seem to forget that there are youngsters here, women here, people at their jobs, people who are religous... it is all forgotten because it becomes impersonal on a board out in a non existent world ... t's not about being pc ...it's about respecting each other which is something we all tend to do from time to time ...

so in closing .. religious threads, sexual, racial, homophobic, political can't be discussed without hurt feelings..so they simply shouldn't be if we can't be adults and think before we hit the enter key ..

This isn't a jaded admin talking. This isn't someone looking to get their ego stroked, this is just me explaining my point of view on why these things get out of hand ....

you are right. i respect that everyone has a right to their opinion, but our opinions should show some respect. That may be what Fett is expressing?

I like other people's opinions and that's my point. When members decide to "slam" someone for offering an opinion or decides to make an "offensive" remark in anyone's book it just ruins it for anyone that just wants to discuss things in a civil manner. So, Zeeg I respect your right to say what you say. And,BTW, if I can turn someone onto a POS guitar that is great, what's wrong with that?

Respect is relative. Not only do we have people from many cultures here, but people who have been raised differently, some who are offended by nothing, and some who are offended by everything that doesn't coincide with their own opinions. I for one make little effort to be PC or non-offensive because I don't expect that from others. Beyond posting porn, racist comments, or blatant insults toward other members, speaking my mind is completely within the guidelines of the forum, and I will continue to do so. There are definitely times when others have posted crap that I didn't like, but hey that's life.
