I listen to the BBC and they are all over Cricket. I know about wickets and the flip. And I know a match is called for "Tea Time" at the half. And a game can last all day. And I have seen a cricket stick. But, I just don't get the rest. We used to play screen ball. That's where there would be 3 fielders and if you got the ball passed them, it was a hit. Can you UK guys explain the game so this dummy can understand it? I know, I can Google it, but I want you to teach me.

I tried to play one time when a bunch of Indian guys joined our group. It took FOREVER and no one ever really learned the rules. When you take a shower in space, you have to press the water onto your body to clean yourself, and then you gotta vacuum it off. - Ace Frehley

One thing he didn't really cover is spin bowling. He did mention that bowlers will often put a bit of spin on the ball, but didn't discuss the spin specialists.
Spin bowlers take a much shorter run up than pace (or fast) bowlers because their emphasis is on putting a lot of turn on the ball, rather than maximum speed towards the batsman. Now, bowling slow might sound like the last thing you want to do, but the good spinners will just bamboozle a batsman with the way a ball changes direction with spin as it hits the ground.
here's a video tutorial from Shane Warne, the greatest spin bowler of all time: click hereHail yesterday

Basically, it's really dull, goes on even longer than baseball and is as interesting as watching paint dry. Oh, and the balls are really hard (insert joke here.....)Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get
