  • My son WINS!!!

My son Nick (a high school junior) won the Southern Connecticut Conference Championship for wrestling yesterday.

It was also his 100th career win. I am so proud of him.

Good going, that is one tough conference. All big schools with huge populations.

My younger brother wrestled in that conference for Amity while I played football at NDWH. Too bad we didn't have a wrestling team. I would have loved to have done that.

The kid he faced in the finals was from Amity. Nick lost to him 8-2 two weeks ago. Nick came back and beat him 5-2 yesterday for the title. Its in all the papers today because it was the highlite match of the conference.

                        Thanks.. John G

Yea, it was exciting. Nick got the first take down in the 1st 15 seconds of the match but doing so he hit his nose and had a gusher on his hands. They had to stop the match 4 times in the 1st period because they couldn't stop the bleeding. Finally.. when almost out of blood time.. (which would be an injury default) the coach stuffed a bandage up his nose and taped around his entire head completely blocking off his nose and the ability to breath through it. Nick was swallowing blood and got 2 points scored on him which tied it up. Nick then rallied from the middle of the second to the end of the 3rd period and completely dominated his opponent for the title and the championship winning 5-2.
                            Yep... I am proud.
