  • Cure for a cold winter day...

Ok, we arent as bad off in central MD as you poor peeps north of us, but it is still a nasty day. So Ithought I would warm up everyone in the house with a crockpot of chili. Its a simple recipie. 2 lbs of ground beef, 3 cans of pinto's, 2cans of diced tomatoes, 3 big onions, a tablespoon of chopped garlic and lots of spices.

First saute chopped onions in olive oil....

then add meat and garlic and brown it...

transfer to the crock with the beans and 'maters...

Hit it with the seasoning (chili powder, salt, hot peppers, a bit of cumin and cinnamon) and leave alone for 3 hours.

Do this at noon and when the kids come in warm them up with a bowlfull and a cup of hot chocolate. Shazzam!

Except in Texas Chili doesn't have beans...

Still looks like damn tasty Yankee Chilli.

          Stay warm!

Yeah, it's got teeth a/k/a hard peppercorns... like that cannibal family in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre used.

Hey Chasbo, how many hot peppers do you use for a pot like that - without killing your kids I mean?

My son grows jalapenos and habeneros in his room. Tonight he donated 2 habaneros and 3 jalapenos for the pot.
