I don't think I'd be to pleased if I sent the money and had to wait 3 weeks for the shipper to send my item, especially if it was a big dollar item I'd be thinking I got ripped off, but I can see both sides. In my experiance COD is the safest for both parties ( not sure if this option is available) , take a small deposit via paypal to cover the shipping both ways in case the item isn't picked up and the balance to be payed for with cash when the item is recieved, its a win win for both parties.

Admittedly the link I supplied is more for protecting big-ticket buyers & sellers (cars, bikes, etc). But if it were MY $3K axe, and I'm dealing with who-knows-who? You can bet I'm gonna protect myself & state such things in the ad. Read what Jeff says, educate yourself, protect yourself, cuz the banks ain't gonna do it (they just want the money), the dude you're dealing with certainly ain't gonna do it (they just want the money or the goods), and I'll just laugh at ya (cuz ya didn't take my advice).

      J/K I won't laugh....

It's a minefield out there nowadays, guys, don't get blown up.

PayPal is about the safest as long as you ship to a verified address. US Postal Money orders are the best because you are not hit with the 3% but check them carefully as there are some frauds out there.

Reguardless of what anyone tells you a generic bank issued Money Order or Certified Check CAN have a stop payment issued on it, so wait for the funds to clear.
