  • New Update - his new attorneys

Well, apparently he has 2 attorneys now. One that defended David Hendricks the second time (if anyone remembers that case at all - he was found guilty of murdering his wife and kids and then had a retrial and was acquitted). The other defended a serial killer in found guilty of murdering prostitutes and dumping their bodies in various areas - included next to a church.

There is a status hearing on Monday, should be interesting.

I'm sorry you have to go through all these delays, but we have to trust that in the end this guy will be in prison for the rest of his life. That's what he deserves and that's what he'll get. Just keep being strong and you will see him convicted.

I can't begin to imagine how hard this has been for you. Hang in there, and like lerx said, hold on to the notion that this creep is going away, no matter WHO his new attorneys are.

"Pelo has pleaded innocent to the charges and is jailed in lieu of posting $200,000. He is on paid administrative leave from his $81,000-per-year job with the police department."

That means he can buy his way out of jail?? AND he's still being paid for nothing? wtf kind of justice system is that???

No offense to those who are against the death penalty, but do you take a shit in ziplock bags and keep them in the freezer? The excrement of society should be dumped and flushed away, like in any healthy system. This society is not a healthy system.

It's called due process. It's in our bill of rights. He has not been convicted yet.

The big reason he is still being paid is that if they would fire him or put him on unpaid leave a disciplinary hearing. That would essentially be a dress rehearsal of the trial - up to and including making all of us testify. It was decided that they would leave him on paid leave to save myself and the other 3 victims from having to testify multiple times and to only have to try him once.

It still sucks, but I can understand. And actually from my understanding his has to post $100,000 in cash to get out - his bond was dropped from $2 Million to $1 Million towards the end of last year. That's still more than his family can come up with - especially since last June he had to post $30,000 cash for the stalking and attempted breaking and entering case.

And I don't begrudge his kids still getting money to pay the bills.

You are indeed an empathetic person. Congrats for dealing with this with so much maturity. It is amazing actually.

Thank you. I've tried to look at many angles. In all reality, the 4 of us that were bound and raped are not the only victims. We are just the only one officially listed. Our families, friends and significant others have suffered right along with us. And now his children are stuck in the middle as well. Those kids didn't do anything, but have to deal with the fact that their dad is sitting in jail and going on trial as basically a serial rapist. I can't imagine the difficulties that will cause them. I definitely don't want to see them suffer even more because there is no money and they lose their home.

I very much want the guilty punished and off the streets. Although it won't change my situation, it will keep another person, another family from having to deal with what me and mine have had to deal with.

It's a very difficult situation for all involved. I very truly hope that no one here ever has to deal with anything like it. but if you do, I very much hope you have the support system that I do. You guys have been great. Thank you all for the support.

I got to tell you, you got some guts lady.
Many people go through the same thing you did and they do not tell people afraid of embarrasment and shame. They did not do anything, they are victims but that is the way society is.
I can't comprehend the internal strength you must have to talk about this so openly and still keep it together. You are one strong cookie.

I only wish everyhting goes well for you so you can put this behind you and the live the rest of your life with some peace. Your man must be another strong fella, albeit a questionable guitar player.

I pray for you. Stay strong.

Joe you said it. Just the strength to do that is amazing. On top of that go back to the original thread and the honesty of how difficult this situation was and has been. The terror she had to live through and very likely still dail have has to deal with. On top of all that strength she still has enough compassion left in her to not want mindless revenged wrought out and to still think of his children? I would like a show of hands (figurative) of others here that are that strong and compassionate.

You been talkin' to Doc Dryer??

And yes, you're all right. She is a very strong woman. She has been through a lot and has taken it all like a trooper. I'm proud of everything she has accomplished. I may not be able to erase the past, but I will most definitely do everything in my power to support her 1000% of the way.

As far as my strength... it's nothing. All I really have to do is listen. It's not always easy to hear some of this stuff, but it is all for her benefit.

You ARE a strong man and husband. You'll be surprised of all the pussies that would have bailed out for less critical situations.
Be there for her like you've been so far.
