Well, rest assured, that tune is something that no one pays attention to, that riff is hidden in front of a bogus solo, and the band has never went and will never go anyhere.

Other than principle, them using that riff (and I have personal involvement with writing that riff and song with Bill) it's just meaningless.

If they were national and they were making dough on it, and umm.. people cared, it would be more of a bummer. Just consider the source, make a mockery of them for doing it, and forget it. Getting too wadded up about all this is really unhealthy for ya bro.

I tried to post a time stamped link from my demo on this forum onto my myspace but couldn't do it..shit!

Well, maybe I'll figure something out..We all know when I posted that song..and who wrote this riff. They tried to hide it coverty in that song..hoping nobody would notice..DUH!

The drummer I kicked out on my demo joined that band and took my riff with them..

Pretty weak how they've addressed the accusations on their MySpace page, but are too lame to respond to you directly, Bill. If they had really written this song years ago, why couldn't they have just said that in their response to you? They might have backed it up with some proof, like an early demo that uses the riff in question, while they were at it.

well put..I mean, its not like they made it a main riff... they say imitation is the highest form of flattery.. however, plagiarism and copyright infringment is defined as "using someone else's work without giving proper credit - a failure to cite adequately.".. which is illegal.

but.. if they ain't going anyplace and using it for profit.. I would probably be upset, get over it and the experience would make me more protective of my stuff in the future.

Ya know.. I thought John posted a clip a waaays back (2-3 years ago) which was just him and a drummer and it was a similar sounding riff if I recall.
