ya know.. I'm not sure..face value of stated output? I would think it would be at or a little under from stated rating if they have shelf leakage.
John would likely be the resident battery dude to ask on that one, but if anyone else knows or wants to chime in, feel free.

I wanted to buy online from one of these outlets, so I was wondering.

"My wife buys the AA, AAA & 9 volt duracells in bulk from wal-mart"

Sounds like you need to spend more time away from the golf course.

The higher above the expected voltage (usually about 1/4 volt), the better. For a 9V, hopefully you're getting about 9.25V or so. For the AA/AAA, hopefully you're getting about 1.75V or so.

I notice once my AA batteries hit about 1.475V, they don't work in certain devices.

Unless I am mistaken, the voltage won't really change over the life of a battery. It's the amperage that governs how much go-go juice is left.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

You are correct. It won't really change (anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 volt). That's not a whole lot. However, current is relative to voltage and resistance. If resistance increases or voltage decreases (I=V/R), your "juice" goes down.

People are still using throw away batteries in 2007? Man I've been using rechargeables since the early 90's. Alkalines should be obsolete by now with Sanyo Eneloops and other low discharge rechargeable NIMH batteries. One question, with the expense of having to replace throw-away alkalines, WHY?

Well I measured my bulk purchased 9-volts and AA vs. some store bought ones. All were Duracells.

                  Store bought:
                  AA - 1.51vdc 820mAh
                  9-volt - 9.02vdc 403mAh

                  Bulk bought:
                  AA - 1.55vdc 798mAh
                  9-volt - 9.2vdc 520mAh

I'd say the bulk batteries are just fine. For those that were interested, I bought them from http://www.batterywarehousedirect.com - my order back in February was for a Duracell 9 Volt 64 pack for $65.28 and a Duracell AA 144 pack for $44.64.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Why AREN'T more people using rechargeable's?
I seen a power supply on MF that "mimics a dying battery"..??,What it's broke?

You need to look at the Mah rating. The larger the number the longer the battery will last.

Amperage is going to be key...I can get decent voltage out of "dead" batteries. But as soon as you connect an electrical load (amps) to them you'll find they don't work.

                        Cool.. thank you very much!

The 9 volt look like a great buy.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say regular non-chargeable alkalines are for suckers. They are the battery equivalent to the disposable camera, disposable diaper, disposable "FILL IN THE BLANK". I'm not an environmentalist in the least, but do yourself a favor and save some cash.

More often than not, I use a power supply. I also have rechargable for AA and AAA.. but for 9v...I have a need for actual batteries. Rechargeable typically last 8 hours in a heavy use senario.. alot of people don't want to recharge or swap out batteries every 8 hours.

For those of you that think I should get rechargables, let me direct you to the first post in this thread.

I've got a PC-1, a couple guitars with EMGs, and a wireless system. I'm not particularly good about always unplugging/turning things off. That ain't gonna change. I'm not organized enough to keep rechargables charged or even find the fucking charger half the time. That ain't gonna change either. If you have kids and/or any sort of home theater/cable box/DVD player etc, you go through AA batteries like toilet paper.
