It's a Cox 2 just like the other ones. It's $2 billion a year for Pfiser. It's also why I don't take pills for pain or anything. What got me about the report is the emphasis on the finding that a person "at risk" of heart desease should beware. Isn't that just about all of us?Last edited by fett; 02-26-2007, 04:22 PM.I am a true ass set to this board.

I had been on both drugs (at separate times) for my arthritis (psoriatic) and stopped using each one as soon as the initial reports came out. Now I'm on Enbrel injections which works really well, but I am waiting for some sort of recall on that too since it works so well. The pharmacutical industry sucks monkey nuts!Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Enbrel is a great drug. Of course, there are side effects with everything. Humira and Remicade are other drugs in that same class.

stuff can be pretty dangerous too. Side effects do
occur with natural homeopathic meds. And their is a
Disclaimer on the bottle or box of the natural remedy
(in small print) that says "This product has not been
proven by the FDA to treat, cure or diagnose any
medical condition..." The fact is Drug Companies
spend about $500,000 to bring a drug to market. If
they are lucky, they get 5-7 to pass all required
clinical trial and New Drug Approval, annually. And
of those approved... they a very lucky to get 1-2 of
them to sell like Prozac or Zithromax. Then they can
make a few Billion Dollars in the first year. And more
money until the patent gives up and a generic is
approved. So it is in the Drug Manufacturers best
interest to NOT rush a drug to market if possible ill
effects to the general public are associated with it.
If you are starting a new drug, check it out. Alot
of my patients do their own research on the meds
they take. I suggest they call their Pharmacist or
Physician(Although we can crazy busy at times, we'll
try and answer your concerns...that's another
subject) And I encourage patients to get a
Physicians Desk Reference P.D.R.(Physician's and
Nurse's drug Bible) or a Drugs Facts and
Comparisons(Pharmacist's drug Bible).
Lastly, Celebrex should have died years ago
when Vioxx(same drug family) was proven to
dangerous for public consumption. I can only think
of 1 or 2 patients who still take Celebrex. And you
know the MD has made sure the patient isn't in a
high risk category for side effects.

I am a long term Celebrex User. I have been told for years by my doc, who also takes C-2 inhibitors that along with heart issues, to be sure you understand that its taxing on your kidneys as well. 2 200mg a day is what I take max now. Some docs feel that handing out good old pain meds is safer then these Meds. I unfortunately need to take both, but Be aware that your not getting something for nothing. The relief you feel is coming at a price. If you don't have chronic pain from joints or serious rheumatoid arthritis, pass on the meds! Condroitin D works almost as well, yet takes months to "load" into your body

I am in the pharma industry and we have been telling physicians this since 2001. Along with Vioxx and Bextra......
I still suffer from severe case of mental exhaustion. If i try to find a job, typically i'll work very good for a few days, a week maximum, then i just burn out and become easily irritated, can't concentrate, need excessive amounts of sleep, etcetc. and my frontal lobes feel like 2 cooking eggs."It wasn't the world being round that agitated people, but that the world wasn't flat. The truth will seem utterly preposterous, and its speaker, a raving lunatic."
