I saw 300 Thursday night @ the midnight showing. Killer flick. The wife and I are going back tomorrow evening. Too bad the nearest IMAX theater is nearly 3-hours away.

Anyone seen it on IMAX yet?

I did. There was so much going on, I sort of want to see it a second time, on a smaller (normal) screen.

... isn't Frank Miller the guy who wrote the Sin City comic book(s)?

                Awesome movie!
I was kind of afraid, because I couldn't stand Sin City.

The historical accuracy was pretty good in this movie. The battle of Thermopaylae was of huge import in establishing Democracy. Frank Miller wrote this graphic novel being inspied by 300 Spartans that he saw as a kid. the graphic nevle aspect of it (the monsters etc...) didn't take me out of the movie at all. The Greeks are known for embelishing and making their history look better than it was at times but regardless thisw as an amazing battle and the spartans were an amazing culture and war machine.

The Spartans were the opposite of gladiators though they were free men and trained warriors

I thought it was quite enjoyable. Computer generated blood / gore was acceptable. Slow motion fight scenes kicked a ton of ass, especially since it is all too popular to utilize the "shake the camera around a ton so you can't see anything" method for filming fight scenes.

Nevermind. I think the Vikings could have kicked all their asses.

                            Beowolf will be out soon!

all I know though is that the Spartans were bad mofo's insanely bad mofo's. They baptized newborns in wine trying to kill them to see if they were strong enough to be worthy of life.

300 is one of the best movies I've seen in quite sometime. Excellent acting, good CGI effects, and a good script.
