It is a shame, I always liked his material also.
R.I.P.
I find no humor in it either, but then again, I have no remorse for someone that puts a bullet in their head.

Exactly.
I liked the guy quite a bit as well. He was assuredly very talented. But, he chose the way out. Sad that it came to that being the only way he saw, but you'll have that.

The thing I'm waiting to hear them confirm, is that it was in fact suicide, or was it one of those Terry Kath deals. For those that don't know Terry Kath, he was Chicago's outstanding guitarist that was fukkin around with his pistol and put one in his head.
I'm hoping it was an accident like that, cause there's nothing that bad that warrants a suicide.Occupation: Department Director for the Department of Redundancy Department

Originally posted by Horse Called War View PostYou have never been in that situation. My Father was dying of a terminal illness , and decided to end his suffering. It was hard, but better than seeing him suffer.
And for the record, yes... I have been in a similar situation.
A very dear friend of mine, Leola (Doe Doe) as we called her, was dying from lung cancer.
A VERY slow and painful death. Through out all of it, she said she will go when GOD takes her and not a moment sooner.
She had hospice and meds to make her comfortable. It wasn't always easy and there were times when she was in too much pain to have visitors... but there was always the hope that tomorrow would be better. Some days it was and some days it wasn't.
But she had more balls than anyone I know. She LIVED as long as she could. Through all her pain and suffering she LIVED for each and every day when she wasn't in pain. She enjoyed visits from her friends and family and it always brought a smile to her face when we visited her. She lived almost a year longer than the doctors said she would, and I think it was because she was not ready to go.
When she did finally pass away, it was in her sleep. Very peaceful. Not violent or with her grasping for her last breath.
That was the most gut wrenching funeral I ever had to go to.
I helped slide her coffin into the wall at the mausoleum and then watched them seal her in for all eternity. It was a very emotionally painful moment for me.
But I had the chance to say good bye to her. I got to see her smile one more time.
She had access to Morphine for the pain and she could have easily taken her life at anytime. She chose not too.
Leola was a frail 85 year old woman who I was proud to call Grandma.
I was not related to her in anyway. She was a friend of my wife's mom.
But she had such an impact on me about how precious life is, even when it's at it's worst.
Seeing her in pain back then and her knowing what her future would be, I would have understood if she took her life.
But after talking to her and hearing her talk about how precious every minute is and then see her go through pure hell at times, she changed my mind.
Nothing in this world will every convince me that taking your own life is justifiable. Suck it up and deal with it.-Rick

frankly I don't think it should be illegal either. anyone who wants to kill themself should be allowed to do it, I say.
it can also be argued that suicidal actions are a mark of a mental defect, and that the society is better off with those kinds of people not around anyway.
harsh? maybe. but worthy of some thought.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

If someone wants to off themselves, have at it.
And technically, committing suicide is not an illegal act (you succeeded, can't arrest a dead person), attempting suicide is.
My OPINION on the matter is my OWN personal belief.
It's a cowards way out.
As for Mr. Jeni... funny guy... loved his stuff.
Sucks that he chose (not proven yet) this way out.-Rick
