RAR is very similiar to a zip file. You use it to compress or merge multiple files into one for dowloading. WinZip and WinRar are an almost must if you are on the net.

Guitardude, Macs can open .rar no problem there are quite a few utilities to handle it.

If you're on a Mac I recommend >Stuffit Expander<, which also has a PC version and is simple and easy to use. On PC I prefer >Winrar<.

you use Winrar (a program you can dl for free off the web) to extrat .rar files.

just google 'winrar download' and you'll find it.
