  • RRHOF induction ceremony

SO im watching the RRHOF induction ceremony to see Van Halen and had to sit thru all the boring people before them. I see michael anthony and sammy there for accept there awards. No Alex or DLR and Ed is in rehab. Why couldnt DLR and Alex be there? Are they too good for the award? Alex could have accepted for his bro. Sammy even said that he was surprised he was asked because he wasnt an riginal member. Micheal and Sammy both wished ED a speedy recovery. The said they hoped they got there buddy back. The real Ed. That was classy even with all the bad blood between them.

Now on to Velvet Revolver..WOW what a disappointment. They butcherd aint talkin bout love. That singer shouldnt even try to sing like DLR or Sammy. It wasnt good to me. Then Sammy and Michael did why cant this be love with the house band. Paul Shaefer on keys was an embarrasment. It was too technical and it didnt have the feel EVH puts into it. I guess the tone is in the hands with keys too. I just turned it off after VH was unducted. I dont care for REM and never have but at least they all showed up!!!!!!!!

I Tivo'd it... then skipped all the BS to get to the VH part.
Paul Schaffer is a good keyboard player, but he's to stiff.
He needs to stick to doing the Letterman gig.

    Velvet Revolver sucked major ass.

It almost looked like Why Can't This Be Love was cobbled together at the last minute. Mike kept looking around like he couldn't hear anything, and surprisingly, Sid Mcginnis was a disappointment on guitar. He used to kick all sorts of ass on Letterman back in the 80's/early 90's, but he didn't really do that solo justice. I was waiting for him to go off a bit.

I think it was a last minute, unrehearsed deal.

It was definitely last minute because Anton Fig was using Matt Sorum's drum kit.

From what Ihear, Dave wasn't going if he could perform, according to the Stern show, he said something like, why do I want to go and watch someone else do VH songs when I'm perfectly capable?
I kinda have to agree with him.

As far as VR, (I missed it last night) what I heard on Stern this morning, Slash was very sloppy and Weiland was just HORRIBLE!

REM, that was the highligh for me. I like most of their early stuff. Great songwriters. They lost it in the late 80s though, but before then they were unbelievably good. Driver 8 is still one of the best songs I ever heard.

Yeah. I thought The Ronnettes did a better job than VR... lol. Even Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5... After VR played everyone in the crowd appeared to be laughing... They didn't even get an applause. I saw VR when they first came out and they kicked ass! I guess that they either A: did not give a shit and did not have anything to go with... Or B: Had a really off night.

VR killed the song. I don't know if I have ever heard anything worse.

I found it interesting that because of the lack of commercials you got to see how much downtime there is while they ready the stage and tell people where to go and such.

I only watched an hour or so, but of that the Ronettes did the best performance. Aretha Franklin is bigger than ever and seemed to have a cough.

If you listened to the crowd, VR actually got heckled when they left the stage, lost of boos and "you aint Van Halen" shouts. They were real bad, my wife even said they sounded like shit.

David Lee Roth was asked to play, all they asked is that he sing ATAL, he only wanted to sing JUMP, and the VR guys says they needed more notice to get that together, so he said he didn't want to sing ATAL and if he wasn't going to sing he wasn't going to go.

It was a huge letdown, they should have all been there. I can understand Ed not showing up, but at least Alex could have shown and it would have been cool if Wolfie went to accept for his father and maybe read something Ed had written. I never understood Alex he doesn't seem to think on his own.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

I forgot this was on last night but it sounds like I didn't miss much -lol. They've been eligible since '03 and I would bitch about them not getting in. Now they are and it's an embaressment (sp?). 3 of the 4 original members not showing up? Come on, even The Police got together for this a couple years ago (and are now touring!). DLR doesn't show because he only wants to sing Jump? And I have no idea what Alex's excuse was. Then there's Eddie. Everyone is applauding him for going into rehab but I think it's a cop-out. He's needed to go to rehab for the last few years and now all of a sudden he checks in less than a week before their RRHOF induction? I've been a VH fan for a long time but I think I'm just about done with them. I'm glad they were inducted, they deserve it for what they did. But now I would rather focus my energy on a band that deserves to be inducted AND would appreciate it - Rush! Plus they put out new material, tour, etc. like a band is supposed to.
                            Unleash the fury.....Texas style!

                              Velvet Revolver = Pig Shit

That singer looks like a mime. He needs to STFU.
