You can see that there was definite studio "magick" with Ted Templeman..the tone was almost there..but it was highly polished to what we all heard in 1978.
If Ed's tone actually sounded just like that on their debut in '78..I don't think he would have caused the Tsunami he did..
His tone wasn't far removed what was going on already..a cranked Marshall..very standard, classic rock sounding indeed...and some of those songs actually sucked.
Funny thing is VH almost didn't get signed because they didn't like Dave's voice..going by this demo..you can hear why..he turned it up ALOT on the record.
