All these guesses are out there for sure. As I've said, look in the background and you'll see a lampshade. Considering the size of the smallest shades, whatever this thing is has to be pretty big... I'm thinking 18 inches diameter or so... Not a jar etc...

Ahh. I saved the pic and lightened it, and I can see what appears to be a knife handle beside it, like it's sitting on a counter. So scratch my guess about a jewel light.

Holy smokes, in the dark picture, three people here thought the spoon with the slots in it with whatever is laying under it was the outline of a lampshade.
