We had a very loose family lifestyle when we were growing up. Bill, you already know that my dad was a very rabid sci-fi guy. These guys were pre-hippie; pre-beat and pre-just about everything. My parents were out and about and I was having a party. My brother was somewhere and came home when the party was winding down and my parents were home. Well, I remember the Iranian Hostage situation in High school, I also recall the Iran contra thing under Reagan.

These guys are playing cards for sure. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes at all. How this plays out will have diplomatic consequences but I feel Iran will play this for all the upper hand they can wring out the situation.
Likely to combat against the sanction situation and their sovereign 'rights' to arms or 'peaceful' weapons and weapon related technology...including threats to these soldiers lives. Can you imagine if they were Israeli's?

It would be like if you lived in New Jersey and one day were told by China that New Jersey is now it's own country and will be ruled by people who bulldoze your house because a terrorist may live in your town. Everytime you try to say something about it, China labels you as terrorist extremists and gives more money and weapons to New Jersey's rulers. Wouldn't you be kind of upset?

The analogy needs a little elaboration though. Imagine the US is composed of numerous serparate States, the borders of which were in almost all cases decided by European great powers 100 years ago, the rulers of which are in all cases despotic tyrannies, be they Islamic or secular. Now, taken together this imaginary North American region is largely a stinking shithole of backwardness, misery, ignorance, poverty, and failure. And it maintains this horrible state even though blessed with fantastic natural resources. An incredible bounty of natural resources required by entire world. Low and behold, the little Chinese sponsored New Jersey succeeds in surviving and actually flourishes over the course of 3/4 of a century. Amid the greater garbage dump they are surrounded by they literally make the armpit of the US flourish and unlike anywhere else in North America contribute to world progress in science and the arts in quality and quantity that compares favorably to almost anywhere else in the world given the population. And they do it with less natural resources, less people, and yes , even less help from their Chinese sponsors than is given to the miserable states that surround them. Wouldn't you be pissed too?

A friend of mine was 'saved' back when we were about 17-18. He was a funny bastard, partied hard & was just good fun to be around. And then he found god. Talk about a change. It was like he was a completely different person. Became a total zealot. You couldn't even sit around and enjoy his company anymore - any discussion, any topic would quickly turn to god. He continued to turn up at parties though, to condemn everyone there to an afterlife of eternal damnation. The father of a kid at school had committed suicide and folks were standing about saying how sorry they felt for the wife & kids left behind - Matt said he felt no pity for them, only for the father who now will be thrust into the bowels of hell for all eternity, yadda yadda yadda.....
