  • Calling Leather Jacket Experts!

I swear there was a topic about this in the past but I couldn't find anything other than someone's thread about wanting to buy a white leather jacket which just turned into making fun of the 80's.

I'm looking to score a relatively cheap leather jacket. Looking for basic black and relatively thin (to wear in spring/fall not winter). There are like 3000 items matching "black leather jacket" on ebay. Besides sizing, how the hell do I choose?

It seems like most of them are market toward 50-year-old wanna be bikers instead of 21-year-old wanna be rockstars like myself.

    Anyone have any helpful tips/links/whatever?

Though I don't wear it often, I have a bomber style jacket thats on the lighter side and is nice looking, plus it doesn't look like an old farts jacket. If I was you I'd see about one.

Don't buy any that advertise as low as $59.00 on the net. Spend $200 at least, or you will get what you pay for. I have seen some serious junk made from Pakistani road kills, from Camden Market in London to Ripley's Leathers in Vancouver.

YKK zippers are usually a good sign that they are likely to be quality jackets. They all fit differently. Harley fits larger than average. Some brands use sizing that is is no where near reality; like having 46s that are closer to 38s.

I would visit a brick and mortar store first and then go from there.

Wilson's Leather is where I bought my leather jacket.

It is not a biker jacket, though. More of a dressy thing.

Just go to the major mid to high end stores to see if you can find a design you like... then search it out on the net.

I bought a great Canadian leather jacket at Macys (admittedly a decade ago) that was originally priced at close to $300 for a little more than $100 on sale, so local sales can be a good thing too.

Just go to the department stores. Most leather stores do have nice jackets, but they're usually marked up to top dollar prices.

Just seriously look around for a week or two, you'll find something.

                    Or Rob Halford.

I tell ya, it's a truly horrible thing to be 20 feet from the stage at a Priest concert when Rob turns around and all you see is the spotlights blaring off his cheeks.

Anyhoo, it might help if you know and/or express what design/style you're going for.

Is there a picture of someone online wearing the one you're looking for?

But you could pinky swear to always go on stage with a tampon sticking out of your ass. You could even trademark it.

What style? What size? I see black leather jackets all the time on my rounds. They usually are around $25. And, yes, I know the difference in quality. You shoud see some of the ones I bought for $1.00.
