If Imus were smarter than a Chips Ahoy cookie I might agree with you but quite frankly he's too obviously stupid to think on his own. He was handed what to read and read it.

Exactly. I do live in a predominately black area. And I socialize with three black guys and their wives all the time, and of course none of this stuff ever comes up, but I don't go two neighborhoods over where they're selling crack to start a conversation.

I bought a Subaru WRX a few months ago, and I had to hear from the salesman about how they used to chase blacks away with baseball bats when they tried to move into his neighborhood on the East Side. Why was he telling me this? Because I'm white? I thought of dropping the sale for a second and then I just realized it would be better to say something to him, "And look at you now, they took over your home and you live in East Bumfuck where all the houses are sinking into the swamp."

Could it be North Carolina? My jazz station has black hosts, and they are all cool cats. But you're right, a lot of my reaction is just that I'm not confronted by it.

MSNBC is just know going to run a story on the fallout of what Don says is a; "Botched Joke". And that's all it was. Maybe, I don't love America so much.

Ignorant maybe... I don't honestly think there was any malicious intent when he made the comment.
I seriously believe he thought he was being funny. Heavy emphasis on the word thought.

It seems feigned when I run across it, in sports bars, etc. I can only go by what I experience. The same guy that used to beat blacks over the head with a baseball bat is probably now complaining that Imus is getting a raw deal. That doesn't mean there aren't people like Mark out there who have been truly harmed.

And then there's the professor in New Hampshire who used the word niggardly in class, and was called a racist by students, then subsequently lost his job. Duh. Yeah, he was jobbed bigtime. I just think examples like this are far from the Imus situation.

Nah, I heard it in Seattle and DC too. I've seen it on BET programming too.

Exactly. It's all scripted. Imus is the mouth and McGurk is the one that feeds him. Imus is not stupid but he needs help.

Bets on who lasts longer. Alberto Gonzales vs Don Imus.:ROTF: :ROTF: Don has lost a lot of sponsers and Al has lost the faith of just about everyone in Congress.

                    • Pull some random rap or hip-hop records and see if there are lyrics as bad or worse. If so, The Imus should be left alone. Because to allow one race to say or do something that you don't allow another race to say or do, is by definition racism.

So unless Big Al and Rev Jesse and Rev Farrakhan want to shut down or clean up the rap/hip-hop record industry, then Imus' distasteful remarks should be just as protected as the rappers' stuff is.
                      Ron is the MAN!!!!

                      • The big problem with rap is that you can understand the words. They need to take a cue from heavy metal and start having cookie monster rappers so they can say whatever they want and nobody will care because you can't understand them.

                        • Imus wasn't being malicious at all , I think it was more of a mindless blathering rant that he thought , or didn't think about what he was going to say was funny or not. Rush Limbaugh got fired from NFL Gameday(thank God) on ESPN a few years ago for being stupid and not thinking. I don't know, I grew up in a town in New York 15 minutes from the city and we all ranked on each other, i took a beating because i'm a mediterranean mess, I'm part Italian,Greek, and lebanese, so I was a buttfukking terrorist spaghetti ni66er-lol and I thought it was hilarious, cuz we all took shots. Wops, MC's, Moon criquets, , the list goes on and on but it's just not intended for radio or T.V. if you plan on having a long career as everyone is listening for something to pounce on whoever you are. Everyone is so ready to expose any negative subjects and beat the living shit out them until you want to hang yourself from the exposure. But i'm sorry for what happened to Mark, that just sucks , and that had to hurt a lot because it had huge repercussions on you and it wasn't true. Not cool. Glad you were found to be not what they claimed you were.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

                            • Feigned white male anger? Hahahaha....

If you haven't experienced REAL white male anger over this BS, particularly because you haven't experienced the double standards and reverse discrimination that are so terribly obvious in so many facets of American society... I wanna live in your world cuz mine is sucking big in that regard these days...

I live in the ghetto, and could care less what color you are. I judge people on whether they're scum or not, and there's lotsa white, hispanic, black, asian, whatever brand of scum you want here. But, I'm seeing enough reverse discrimination in so many ways it disgusts me...

I can't believe that advertisers and everyone else that are walking away from the guy. They should maybe ditch him cuz he's a tard, not cuz of what he said. I can't stand the dude, but am fine with him saying what he said, in the terms that he did, considering what black celebrities have said in the past..

BTW, Call me cracker, and since I don't have a slave and don't have a whip, I'll take offense. But, it seems ok to do that. I find that sad. I guess I should feel such deep "white guilt" that I should be happy as a lark to be degraded in such a way.
