So I'm just sitting here in my office today when I get a phone call...
Turns out it was Stone Sours Management..
They were doing a private unplugged show/recording video today for a VIP thing at the Buzz (Clear Channel) And needed a guitar tech.
I got the call and said sure, I am available.
So me and my wife hauled ass across town to get there in time to set up and help out.

Not much to do tech wise. It was more of a stand in for the Record Label and people with the big cash paying for the video that wanted me there.
Never the less, it was an honor to be asked to tech for them.
And its opened up a great opportunity to tech for other major acts when they need it...
The Stone Sour/Slipknot guys were a pretty down to earth bunch of guys. Jim, the lead player has some licks and Corey the singer has some great versatility.
    It was a good time.

I never thought I would be teching as much as I have been lately but its fun.
This Friday I will be teching and setting up for my friend Gary Hoey.
All this tech work and the cover band I'm in playing out 2-3 times a week has got me busy!
Plus all the guitar repairs and running Vwall Guitars... But I love it!
That's it, just wanted to share the cool experience I had today!

              Very cool Scott!

What guitars was Jim Root using?
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

did they make you wear a full head mask that looks like diarrhea with hoses protruding from it?
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Josh (other gp in SS not formerly of SK) was using an Ibanez acoustic,
Corey was playing a Washburn acoustic and Jim had the 6K Martin.

Jim did mention to me about a new Fender deal so Im expecting to see a new signature guitar shortly...

                    No masks LOL

Very cool Scott, I'm digging your lifestyle. Sounds like a nice change from the corporate world that I live in.

The Stone Sour boys are from here in Des Moines, and yes they are a good group of rocking Iowa boys. Corey has gotten up on stage and sang with my cover band at local clubs. Great guy and really good voice.

And you're teching for Gary Hoey? That is too cool, he is awesome!

Ask and ye shall recieve. A pic of Jims new Sig. Model. Mahogany bodied tele. Maple board on black, ebony board on white. Both flat finishes. EMG 60 and 81. Jims sig. on back of headstock. Should be pretty sweet...
