  • Oahu tonemaster hawaiian steel

I picked up one of these today.
Haven't had a chance to string it, tune it and play it through the vibrochamp yet.
Anyone have any tips, pointers, or advice?

i don't have a slide or know how these are tuned, but I couldn't resist. Pictures to come later. She's beat, and best guess is it's from the late 1940's.

What strings should I buy to start? cool lap steel.

To bad you didn't get the amp that usually pairs with it... bakelite finish?

Yeah, the bridge and pickup cover as well as knobs appear to be bakelite. No Amp to be seen.

I am interested in how to tune and string a lap steel as well. They are selling Galveston lap steels on ebay for like 90.00. I know they are probably crap but should be okay to see if it is even something I want to mess with.
