All I can say is I'm glad he chose the Yankees, but not sure if this will help us keep up with Boston. Def. will help us keep up in the wild card race if all else fails.

I am gald we got him even though he is so old he still owes JC $5.
We need the pitching and a morale boost.

But damn!!!!! what is up with fag ass Pavano! fuck!!
Shoulder tendonitis, then a sore butt (seriously!), now sore forearm.... good lord shoot him in the head and put that pussy out of his misery.
Five (5), yes five lousy wins. That is all he gave the Yankees, and he walks away with more money than a small African nation.

      Welcome home 'ol Roger.

          Why the hate? Just curious.

The Yankees are a strong reason why the smaller market teams are still around, and what do the owners ofthose teams do with the money that steinbrenner gives every years in the profit raping, i mean profit sharing program that has been instilled? They put it in their pockets instead of putting it into their teams and cry for more $$$. The yankees wrote a check to MLB for over 100 million dollars for the 'other owners" to split up. hate them because they are a great team, not for something else.

It's all about money. I thought Roger was different and actually had some character. He said he was going to pick the team who had the best chance at a world title, not the team with the deepest pockets.

Apparently there was an assumption that negotiations were opening. Sox bid around 18 Mill to only hear he signed with NY for 28 Mil ... no more offer requests nothing ...

Bottom line, this wasn't about anything more than milking the highest offer ...

that's what everyone plays for now... $$$$. Why should he be any different.

                Sad but so true.

Got'em ! Roger is a Yankee now. Still mid-May, to early to get a real good feel on teams.

Now we can shovel Pavano into the trash where he belongs.

I've also got a new appreciation for Proctor after blasting that batter yesterday !!!!

I thought that too. But I also think that Clemens felt bad about unretiring on Steinbrenner in 2004. Especially because they lost the '03 Series. I always felt that if he was going to go anywhere other than Houston that connection with Steinbrenner would weigh heavily on him. That might be the reason why he ended up with the Yankees. He hinted at something like that in the news conference yesterday.

At least it'll make the season interesting between the Red Sox and Yankees. I have tickets to the White Sox Yankees on June 6 here in Chitown. May be Clemens first start?!!

You might be right, but the bottom line is that I hate when athletes make the comment it isn't about the money and then they go after the money.

                      Mo Vaughn
                      Pedro Martinez
                      Johnny Damon

Those are all names that have made those comments only to bail for a bigger check. I just wish if it were a deep pockets issue that they wouldn't say it wasn't ..

I would have loved to see Roger come here, get his number retired and win a ring here. That was something he already accomplished in NY twice...

We sure need his arm right now. But BAD. Crossing my fingers that this doesn't become yet another situation of signing an older - but great - pitcher who later blows out his arm when becoming a Yankee (again). Stay healthy Roger!

There's one thing you're forgetting kev, when Clemens returned to fenway as a Blue jay, and the front office had let him go, the fans spit on his family and treated them like shit to the the pooint where they were escorted out of the stadium. He's also got strong ties to some of the players on the Yankees still playing, combine that with the $$$ and anybody here would do the same thing in my opinion.

You could have kept Damon, Pedro, etc. if you just forked over a little more money for them, the red Soc are by far not in the poorhouse, nor are they incapable of raising their payroll. They write a check to baseball too at the end of the season, just not as large as the Yankees.
