  • Work Frustration?

Man work sucks, I'm tired to getting my ass up for a 3rd shift job, driving has lost its thrills. I'm tired of who I work with, all of them just talk shit about one another. All my bosses think they are smarter, not in the sense that they are in control, but the fact that they spent most of their lives in college so they really don't know how to approach people in a respectful manner (understatement).

It sucks man, today my boss gave me some shit infront of the other guys - it was totally uncalled for. Something about how I never volunteer for anything, when infact I do. But nobody else did either, so I get pinned? (theres been so many more examples, this one just today though )

My last job I pulled a Johnny pay check and left, this job has truly drained me. And although I could be talking out my ass. I'm on the hunt.

I could totally rant on and on about this place but I'll spare ya, my last job was pretty bad with rumors, supervisors and stuff like that. But this one truly does take the cake.

I've been patient, and I realize work is not supposed to be fun, but damn, there is no excuse for how hostile this work enviroment is.

Anybody else ever been caught in such a position when your just biding your time? Any good stories? Any Advice?

Maybe your boss is a trying to prove something to himself and just singled you out.As far as volunteering if they don't ask don't volunteer, if they do do it 50% of the time.
When employees start talking shit about other people I just walk away.Thats one thing I can't stand. My transportation manager ask me about what another driver said and I told him "don't ask me ask him".
A college education doesn't make them any smarter, they think it does.
I did the college thing and got the education but I do what I do because it doesn't seem like work.
Start looking for something else Adam I'm sure there is something good out there.Try UPS or take the civil service test and go work for the postal sevice. Two damn good jobs.

      It's reality.
      It's all a big rat-race.

You don't kiss your wife at the front door and say...
"Bye dear! I've got to go to FUN now...."

If it was FUN, they wouldn't call it WORK.

All jobs are...well, WORK. If you find a job that you love - -you're the only one who did.
Now, suck it up and continue to collect a paycheck- THAT is why we put up with WORK.

Well, work can be fun sometimes. I still remember a lot about how good my old work place was. I and this guy Andy had such a nice time working with each other that we almost became best buds. We had a lady boss who was very nice to us and understanding. It was fun eeryday at work until a senior guy joined up and ultimately he became the manager. I had to quit because of him. Now, in my new workplace, its so boring. The job is allright, but my team is scattered all over the country and I have no one but you guys to talk to.

i was one of 65 sales people at this huge memory mANUFACTURING COMPANY BACK IN THE EARLY '90'S, i HAD TO GREASE THE GUYS IN SHIPPING BECAUSE THERE WERE , woops, sorry about the caps, because there were not enough chips to meet demand, so after being up all night my friends would say where are you going? I'd say I'm going to work, and they'd say you're crazy, and i'd say i'm getting so grossly overpaid it's ridiculous, so work was never that bad for me once I gave up the band dream thing, it was hard until I saw the monster commission checks start rolling in. My best set up was living on PCH, right across the street from my two bedroom condo that faced the ocean on the 1st floor, and my office was across the street. I'd go to work whenever I wanted to, as i was on commission, and in my boxer shorts as well. Everyone at the company was cool and kicked ass. Times were undescribably good. Work was making 5 or 6 phone calls, selling whatever was in stock and then leaving. It's the same today , except for the size of the commission checks, but yesterday turned my life around quite a bit. Just one day, and i hit it out of the park. By June I should be a human being again!!!-lol

I used to like my job. New boss (who is CLUELESS about how a hotel functions), skeleton crew, pay cut, stuck behind the desk all day instead of MANAGING the hotel. Watching the place going to shit, and not being able to get it through his thick skull that he's driving the place into the ground. But yet, my title is General Manager, so all the shit still stops with me. I'm definitley looking for something else..just biding my time. I keep biting my lip and being professional. Bad thing is I live here too..so I have to find a job and a house. Oh well, whatever, I just keep hangin in here for now.

Oh I agree, and I've sucked it up for a while now. Between a bipolar supervisor who will flip out at any random moment because he feels like it. Employees who stand there and don't show up for work but get away with it while people who actually do work, do show up, do their job are criticized beyond what their duties are. It's childish.

They talk about employees infront of others, they make it known infront of others. The employees will talk about the next person who leaves the room.

And whatever he had to prove by saying that was just like, what the hell? So I made the comment that I'm fine without any handouts, dosen't bother me in the slightest. And he walked off. This guy eh, its just irritating.

So yeah Richard I applied for 2 jobs today actually after work, I don't know how it will go. But maybe to get off 3rd shift could do wonders for me, hell that alone is driving me insane now a days.

So Atomic? You quit yesterday I don't understand either.

Start delegating, thats what I do. If you let your boss micro manage you then he will. Make it clear that you understand what your job is and you're perfectly capable of setting your own priorities. Try to have a productive conversation with him, and if it doesnt work then go to his boss. But NEVER Complain!

Here's an old fart's prespective. With any and all jobs I have had I have tried to make them fun. I have liked just about every job I have had. I am just me, and a pretty fucking smart me in any job I had. But, there will always be the "Man" that fucks it up. I may run out of money, but I will never work for "someone" again.
I am a true ass set to this board.

Well brother when I started this job I was in desperation of $$, cause I just moved. No plan, broke, 100 miles away from home. And I had to make it work or carry my ass back home. So everything I got here I made working there, so I've put up with my share of shit and definately tried to make it fun.

Even to the point where I think I was in denial about how bad it was, I believe I just didn't let anything bother me. But now I'm just so sick of it, and tonight of course I go back in.

This boss guy and I have had a few run-ins that regular joes like you and me wouldn't consider to even be a problem. He just seems like hes always one notch above, especially in advice in guidance - he has all the answers, nobody is right but him even if you both agree he'll be more 'correct' (if thats possible?).

Ah the joys of being on your own...

Dude, I won't go into detail..I don't have many folks left to delegate too. I'm very good at my job, and I do it well, when allowed to.
He doesn't have a boss, he's the hotel owner.
