Any secret recipes? Tired of the old "steamed" with mayo.

Pickled? I love pickled Artichoke hearts. I also like artichokes steamed and then dip them in butter.
Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

I have lived on the West Coast all my life. 52 years in Calif. Back in the '70's a relative visited from Arizona and didn't know what a 'choke was. Times have changed.

25 cents a pop? I saw them once, here in Japan. They were close to $6.00 a piece! How do they survive at 25 cents a pop? They must be growing millions.

I have cut them in half and simmered them in a butter/onions/ garlic mix and they were awesome. I used to have a recipie for them somewhere.

Wow .25 a pop. I think there are 2.50 a piece at jewel. We just steam them and dip them in butter. At work we get gormet artichoke and spinach one person pan pizzas. get yourself a cheese pizza and throw some on top.

I eat them all the time... I have lived in the Bay Area which is right next to the artichoke capitol of the world. Totally easy to make. 45 minutes on a slow boil with like 1/2->3/4 inch of water in a closed pot. I usually do a small amount of mayo with curry mixed in or just melted butter on the side.
                    Insert annoying equipment list here....

Still Castroville? They used to have a sign and everything. "The Artichoke Capital of the World", I think it said.
