Congrats! I have a couple of friends in law enforcement so I have a small idea what it took to get to this point. Best of luck in the academy and thanks for stepping up!
Thanks so much everyone, I really do appreciate everyones support and interest.
It has been pretty involved getting to this point for sure, never realize what it took, and it takes quite a bit. To get in the top 30 out of 2200 applicants is pretty astounding to me.. Not sure how I managed that.. Just pretty excited right now to know I made it through.
Rich, technically, I'm a cadet for 6 more months, but my job title at least says Police Officer . Was at the hospital a bit ago for some things and they kept calling me officer I thought that was cool.
Ron, I'm sure you speeding through my zone will be the least of my worries here. Feel free, it's probably safer for you to get through quickly.
Congrats John. I know you WILL do this. The academies are not in the business of seeing people fail. You have to stay strong and motivated. If they see you are trying your hardest, you will be golden.
I started at the NJ State Correction Officer's Academy at 38 years old(Dec 2001). I was one of the oldest in my class. They did not let me slide though. When they found out I was former USMC (1983-86) they made me a squad leader.:ROTF: No slacking for me. 14 weeks later, graduation. It felt good.
Best of luck, John. With Bill's friendship and guidance I am sure you will do the city of Cleveland proud. Knock 'em dead at the academy!!!!!

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.

Thanks guys, I'm still riding the happy feeling today
No Inazone, the Detectives were cool and called ahead to arrange a meeting haha... Everyone is used to them being around asking questions anyways, they hit my whole street and half of my parents street during the first bit of background investigations. People who I have no idea who they are come up to me asking how it's going. Hah... Kind of odd...
Scott, good to hear your experience and thanks for the good word.
