They would have to pretty much destroy the whole back.
It's not a name. More like a small paragraph.
It would be blatantly obvious to anyone that it was stolen.
It's a Nano... they aren't that big to begin with.

I lost my iPod a few weeks ago. I clipped it to my belt as I was leaving work, and somewhere in the 20 feet from my shop to my car, and my car into my house, I lost it. I'm bummed too, because it was brand new and a present from my girlfriend. She was understanding, but I think she was still disappointed.
