Hardly anyone was using it so I've not logged on in a few days, I don't leave my Mac on all day otherwise I'd just keep the channel open. I can't be arsed to build a bot to sit there in the channel when no one is around.

For the IRC newbie (like myself): the channel will die if no one is present, either a real human user or a bot. That's how I understand it, after shobet explained it.
